General Setup
In order to successfully install the Bringme Box at your location we need the following technical requirements to be fulfilled:
1. An 230V. electrical socket
2. A standard ethernet connection (UTP) with internet access.
We strongly recommend the following outlined setup. Please discuss this with your ICT department before installation of the Bringme Box.
3. A separated DHCP enabled VLAN for the Bringme Box with no access to your internal or other (V)LANS.
Note: the box uses the 192.168.50.0/24 network for internal communication inside the box, so this cannot be used for the internet access VLAN.
4. Full outgoing internet access. If you need to restrict the outgoing ports, the Bringme Box needs at least the following ports to be open to communicate with its backend:
- Port 53 (DNS)
- Port 80 (HTTP)
- Port 443 (HTTPS)
Other questions
- Our ICT department demands a fixed IP address for the Box, is this possible?
This is not an issue, please communicate the fixed IP address, subnet mask and gateway prior to installation. We can provide the MAC address of the Bringme Box if this seems necessary. - Our ICT department wants to whitelist the IP’s to which the Box communicates, is this possible?
The Bringme Box communicates with the Azure datacenter for its backend and the LogMeIn cloud environment for remote troubleshooting purposes. As there are hundreds IP’s to whitelist we strongly discourage this and refer to point 3 and 4 to solve this. - Do we need to open incoming ports on our firewall?
No, this is not necessary. All remote troubleshooting is done via LogMeIn over TLS encrypted connections.
- Our firewall uses App-ID filtering and blocks LogMeIn?
We cannot give remote support when LogMeIn is blocked on firewall level. We kindly ask to make an exception for the IP address of the Bringme box. If this is not possible we advise to buy a 4G router and a simcard for the Bringme box.
- Do we need to open outgoing ports on our firewall?
Yes, if you need to restrict the outgoing ports, the Bringme Box needs at least the following ports to be open to communicate with its backend and remote assistance tool: port 53 (DNS), port 80 (HTTP), port 443 (HTTPS). - Do we need to install a IPSEC VPN?
No, this is not necessary. All remote troubleshooting is done via LogMeIn over TLS encrypted connections. - There is no internet connection available at the Bringme Box location
We offer the possibility to buy a 4G/LTE router with data SIM card for locations without internet connectivity. Please note that power is still needed, it's not possible to solve this with an external solution. - Our wired network uses 802.1x authentication, is this an issue with regard to the installation of the box?
In theory we can configure the Bringme Box to use 802.1x authentication, however we try to provide the best streamlined experience possible. So any additional factor that can interfere with this streamlined experience we strongly discourage. - Can we connect the Box via WIFI to the internet?
No, a WIFI connection is not supported for the Bringme Box. - Can the Bringme Box work with a proxy?
In theory we can configure the Bringme Box to use a proxy, however we try to provide the best streamlined experience possible. So any additional factor that can interfere with this streamlined experience we strongly discourage. - What is the internet traffic volume generated by the box?
This depends on the physical configuration of the Box, the number of users and how many parcels are delivered. For example: a BM20 + ext 9 and 100 employees will use a total of +- 10 GB data in the quite busy period from 20/11 until 20/12. - There is no internet connection available where the box is supposed to be installed, how can we solve this?
We offer the possibility of purchasing a 4G/LTE router (a standard SIM card is required) for locations which don't have internet capability. It's only possible to rent or purchase this router (4G/LTE).
Please note that power is still required, we cannot solve this with external solutions.
