Is it safe to order something from (Asian) low-cost online stores?

Cheap Asian web shops are very popular because of their wide range of products and low prices. But ordering your gadgets or smartphone cases from these low-cost stores entails some risks.

  • Your purchases are not insured. That means you lose your money if your shipment goes missing.
  • There's a chance customs will charge you an import tax which you'll have to pay upon receipt of your shipment.
  • Small, flat items like smartphone cases are sent in an envelope and therefore delivered along with the normal post. That's why you can't receive them in the Bringme Box at work or on campus (this is not an issue at home).

Be aware of the risks and be sure to check the European alternatives, which usually aren't that much more expensive.
