Why is my Bringme Badge not working?

🔎 Introduction

Sometimes a Bringme Badge does not seem to work, for example at the Bringme Box, at a Bringme Badge Reader or at the Bringme Bell. In most cases the badge itself is not the problem. Usually the badge is not linked to an account yet, or it is still linked to a previous user, for example someone who lived or worked at the location before. This article shows you what to check, step by step. Some steps you can do yourself, others are handled by the administrator of your location.

📃 Answer

First check whether the badge is linked to an account

Scan the badge at the Bringme Box or the Bringme Desk and look at the screen.

  • No name appears: the badge is not linked to any account yet, so you can activate it yourself. This article explains how to do that.
  • A name appears, but it is not yours: the badge is still linked to another user. Continue with the next section.
  • Your own name appears: the badge is linked correctly. Continue with the sections below.

The badge shows someone else's name

This happens when the badge was used before by a previous resident or colleague and was never unlinked. The administrator of your location can solve this.

  1. Write down the first name that appears on the screen. That tells the administrator which account still holds the badge.
  2. Pass that first name on to the administrator of your location.
  3. The administrator unlinks the badge from the previous user in the Bringme Manager and links it to the correct account.

If the previous user no longer has any access to the location, the administrator can no longer select that account and cannot unlink the badge. In that case the administrator contacts our Help Center with the UID number of the badge, so we can unlink it from the old account.

The badge does not open the letterbox

To open a letterbox with a badge, the letterbox has to be linked to the same account as the badge. If the badge works at other access points but not at the letterbox, ask the administrator to check that the letterbox is linked to the right account.

The badge is not being read anywhere

Does the badge work nowhere at all, so not at the Bringme Box, not at a Bringme Badge Reader and not at the Bringme Bell, while it is linked to the correct and active account? Then the badge may no longer be read correctly, for example due to wear.

You can check this quickly by trying another badge that you know works. Does that one work at the same access points, then the badge needs to be replaced. Contact the administrator of your location first, since there are often spare badges available on site. This article explains how to activate a replacement badge.

💡 Tip: is there no spare badge available at your location? Then you can order one in the Bringme webshop.

Still not working?

  • Check that the badge is linked to the correct account, and that this account is still active.
  • Check where the badge does and does not work. If it works at the Bringme Box but not at a Bringme Badge Reader or the Bringme Bell, the cause lies elsewhere in the access control setup.
  • Ask the administrator of your building to contact our Help Center, so we can run a thorough analysis.

💡 Tip: have this information ready, it helps us solve the issue faster.

  • The location (name of the building or site)
  • The UID number of the badge, if you know it
  • The name currently linked to the badge, if you know it
  • Where the badge does and does not work (Bringme Box, Bringme Badge Reader, Bringme Bell, letterbox)
  • Whether another badge does work at the same access points
