🔎Introduction
Using Mobile Video in combination with a VPN on a smartphone is not officially supported by Bringme. However, if a VPN app allows domain whitelisting, there are specific steps that can be followed to ensure functionality. This FAQ provides guidance for users attempting to use a VPN with Mobile Video.
📃Answer
The use of Mobile Video in combination with a VPN app on a smartphone is not officially supported. If the VPN app allows for domain whitelisting (which we cannot verify for every specific app), the domain `*.my2n.com` should be whitelisted. This is essential, as the domain is necessary for the functioning of Bringme Bell VoIP calls. Additionally, any SSL inspection, application, or URL filtering must be disabled for this domain, as stated in our network requirements.
However, please keep the following in mind:
-
There is a strong suspicion that Mobile Video may not function correctly when routed through a VPN, especially if whitelisting is not possible.
-
Official support documentation (e.g., from Avast) only provides domain exclusion functionality for Windows, and even then, only at the IP level.
-
It remains the customer's responsibility to test and validate the behavior when using VPN solutions on mobile devices.
For now, we recommend users avoid using VPNs with Mobile Video unless they are confident in their ability to properly configure domain whitelisting.
