🔎 Introduction
When someone rings at your door, the My2N app should ring on your phone or tablet, show the video image of your visitor and let you open the door. This article helps when the app does not ring, rings without sound, shows no image or does not show the door-open button. Run the checks below in this order: most of them take a minute and you can do them yourself.
📃 Answer
In most cases the cause is a setting on your phone or in the app, not a defect in the intercom. Phones limit what apps may do in the background to save battery, and the My2N app has its own Do Not Disturb mode. Either can stop the call from reaching you, or let it arrive without image or sound.
Step 1: check the permissions on your phone
- On iPhone: go to Settings, scroll down to My2N and switch on Notifications, Camera, Microphone and Background App Refresh. Without Background App Refresh, your iPhone puts the app to sleep and the call does not come through.
- On Android: go to Settings > Apps > My2N > Permissions and switch on Notifications, Camera and Microphone. Then open Battery in the same menu and exclude My2N from battery optimisation, so your phone does not close the app in the background. Depending on your phone brand, this option is called Battery usage or Battery optimisation.
Step 2: switch off Do Not Disturb mode in the My2N app
- Open the My2N app.
- Go to Settings > Calling.
- At the bottom of the screen, make sure Do Not Disturb mode is switched off.
When this mode is on, the app does not show the incoming call at all, so you see no image and no door-open button. It is separate from your phone's own Do Not Disturb or Focus mode, so check that one too.
Step 3: check the sound if the call arrives silently
If the call does come in but you hear no ring, check that your phone is not set to silent, then check the ringtone and volume in the My2N app.
Step 4: uninstall and reinstall the app
If the steps above did not help, a fresh installation repairs a faulty link between your phone and the intercom.
- Have your My2N login details ready (e-mail address and password): you need them to log back in.
- Uninstall the My2N app completely.
- Restart your phone.
- Install My2N again from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).
- Log in with your own login details.
Step 5: test on wifi and on mobile data
- Ask someone to ring at the door while your phone is on wifi, and note what happens.
- Switch wifi off, so your phone uses mobile data (4G or 5G), and test again.
- If the call works on one connection but not on the other, the problem lies with that network, not with the app.
Still not working?
- If the app stops working on several phones or tablets in the building at the same time, the cause is probably not your phone. Let your building administrator know.
- Note exactly what happens: does your phone ring, do you see an image, do you hear sound, and does the door-open button appear?
- Note on which connection you tested (wifi or mobile data), and take a screenshot of what you see in the app. This helps us solve it faster.
Still have a question?
Does this article not answer your question, or do you have another one? You can always ask Jaimie, our AI Agent. You will find Jaimie in the bottom right corner of the Bringme App, in the Bringme web app, or after logging in via app.bringme.com. Jaimie is still in beta and learning as she goes, so the feedback you leave after a conversation helps her get better.
